The process is established in Medical chamber legislative acts. As written above. Degree needs to be checked if the person is apllying for a job from a country outside Europe. If a person is applying for training he needs to apply to one of two national training calls. The requirements are set by the Medical chamber – same for all Slovenian doctors as well.

National call sets possible Hospitals for which you can train. However each training has a programme that elaborates how much of the training needs to be done in a tertiary centre. We have to types of calls. One that is for Slovenia – which allows trainings in different hospitals across the country. Two for a specific hospital – the majority of training is done in that specific hospital
No. If the training is cancelled, there is a possibility that some expenses that cover mentoring fee need to be covered by the trainee.

Salary is between 1200-1500€, additionally overtime is added to that salary.
We have identical contracts as we are a part of public system and our salaries are set in the system. There are variation related to working conditions (surgeons, intensive care trainees, ER trainees, anaesthesiologists…) have a higher pay due to tougher conditions
They are allowed. The salary is reduced in accordance do the national legislative. If training is stopped for more that 2 months, it will be extended for the same duration. Voluntary work is allowed, however only if its done during vacation days.

We have a lack of doctors in our country, there is a influx of immigrant doctors from ex Yugoslavian countries.
We have an increased number of doctors leaving our country due to more restrictive law which limit doctors and their practice. In Slovenia there is only a few clinic outside of public system.
