Medical Degrees: 

The title of doctor of medicine is awarded to students completing one of four medical schools in Croatia. Upon finishing another 3 years of PhD programme and defending of doctoral thesis, a doctor of medicine is also awarded dr. sc. Prefix (before that there used to be a mr. sc. – master of science degree, but this has been replaced with PhD programme)

Medical trainees are welcome in Croatia, however due to the fact that positions are not so abundant it might take considerable time in terms of months or even years for a doctor to get a training post, especially in urban areas. Much higher chances are in rural areas, but then with additional obligations in contracts (obligation to stay in that area/institution for a number of years, etc.)
